Privacy policy
Zett has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your reading stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Zett keeps these in a local database on your phone, and nowhere else:
- your sources
- saved articles and reading positions
- your preferences
- muted sources and keywords
- which articles appeared on your screen, which you opened, how far you read, and when
- a cache of recent articles
Zett uses this only on your phone, to order your stream and remember your place. If backups are turned on, your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it, under your account with that provider.
What leaves your phone
- Publishers. To show articles, your phone connects directly to each publication you follow and to the hosts of the images inside their articles. They see your IP address and standard request details, under their own privacy policies.
- Zett's server. Some articles may come from Zett's own server, run on Cloudflare, and it resizes the images shown on article cards. Like any web server, it sees your IP address and the time of each request, and for an image, which image was asked for. It receives no account or reading data, and we don't use it to identify you.
- Original pages. When you open an article's original page, it loads in a private browser view.
Read aloud uses your phone's own voice. No audio or text is sent anywhere for it.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share personal data, build profiles of readers, use advertising identifiers, or run analytics or crash-reporting tools.
Your choices
In Settings, under Your data, you can export your sources (as an OPML file) and your Library, or delete all data. Uninstalling Zett also removes it. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to look up or delete on our side, but you're welcome to write to us with any request.
Children
Zett is not directed at children under 13 (16 in the EEA), and it collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
